R.J. Fried is a five-time Primetime Emmy-nominated and WGA Award-winning comedy showrunner, writer, and performer who served as showrunner/co-creator/executive producer/writer/performer for the Primetime Emmy, WGA, and Critics' Choice Award-nominated "Stephen Colbert Presents Tooning Out the News" (Comedy Central), which ran for three seasons on Paramount+ and Comedy Central. Previously, he served as showrunner/co-creator/executive producer/writer/performer of "Our Cartoon President" (Showtime), which ran for three seasons on Showtime and became their highest-rated scripted comedy. His credits include "Problematic with Moshe Kasher" (Comedy Central), "Triumph's Election Special" (Hulu), "Maya & Marty" (NBC), "Late Show with David Letterman" (CBS), "Night of Too Many Stars" (Comedy Central), "Onion Sportsdome" (Comedy Central), "The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell" (MSNBC), "Popzilla" (MTV), and "Rob & Big" (MTV). He has written for performers such as David Letterman, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Conan O'Brien, Robert Smigel, Sacha Baron Cohen, Bill Murray, and more.

R.J. is a cum laude graduate of Harvard University, where he was named the 2004 Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He is also a 2000 N.H.L. Draft pick of the Florida Panthers (3rd Round, 77th Overall). He was raised in Indiana, Pennsylvania.
